Does any one know how to get quotes for Commercial Paper Interest Rates - End of Day?
The closest I can find is the 13 wk T-Bill (!IRX) which understates the commercial rates.

HGSI announced tonight that HGSI users must convert by October 1. I have
some questions regarding QP3:

1) Will Advanced Get EOD continue to read the QP database directly?

2) I have numerous ASCII exports. Will these convert to QP3?

I don't mind converting to QP3 except there is nothing that I do in QP that
I can do in QP3. I need some sort of manual to tell me how to set up scans
and do everything else that I can do with QP. Right now my scans will not
run under QP3 as I get error messages and it hangs up. Nor do I know how to
set up scans in QP3.

If this is clarified I will stay with QP otherwise I will have to use
another data source.

H Lionel -

There shouldn't be any difference between qp2 and qp3 with your scans.

Export the scans that don't run, and send them to support-i2Fwpmd7/***@public.gmane.org I'll take a look at them

I'll send them to you tomorrow. They all work with QP, With QP3 I first get
error messages, then the program hangs up and I have to manually shut it
down.

I wonder if you have one of the older HGSI installations that installs the
Quotes Plus Data folder inside the Programs folder. I have changed to QP3
and all of my old scans run OK. Post a copy of a scan you can run in QP2
and I will try to run it on my QP3.

Where and how do I get a current version of the HGSI installation?

Another question, What is the current version of QP3?

Here is the code for the original OBV breakout scan. It selects about the
same tickers as a modified OBV scan that specifies the three exchanges.

I think you should be able to edit the setup of HGSI to tell it the new
location of the Quotes Plus Data folder without reinstalling, but George can
better answer this. Also, any old excel spreadsheets will not run on the
new installation until you tell excel where the new data folder is by
modifying add ins links. I believe there is also a newer XLA excel add in
file in QP3 that should be referenced in excel. I believe the old XLA add
in is also included with QP3.

I have been downloading at 6:05 Mountain (8:00 Eastern) for many years. On
occasion, I would have to go back for another download to get the
commodities. Commodities now appear to be consistently late.

Why can't QP provide commodity prices 4-5 hours after the commodity
exchanges close and how much later to I have to set the download?

Hello

The commodities are usually available by 8:30pm est, but sometimes come in later.

We have no control over the schedule.

All I got tonight was a truncated message. I asked HGS to resend it to me.

Unless we get a help system for QP3 that is at least as adequate as that for
QP I will find another data supplier.

We are given instructions to remove QP2.

1) Is it possible to maintain both for a test period and tell HGSI which one
to use?

2) If we remove QP2, how do we save the ASCII export setups so they don't
have to be reentered?

HGSI announced tonight that HGSI users must convert by October 1. I have
some questions regarding QP3:

1) Will Advanced Get EOD continue to read the QP database directly?

2) I have numerous ASCII exports. Will these convert to QP3?

Since I've been away and not using QP much lately, I would like to know what's the story
about removing QP2, etc. I did not get any notice from HGSI and/or QP about anything.

How can I get the full story about what is going on - or can someone fill me in.
Post by EAdamy
We are given instructions to remove QP2.
1) Is it possible to maintain both for a test period and tell HGSI which one
to use?
2) If we remove QP2, how do we save the ASCII export setups so they don't
have to be reentered?

I haven't received these instructions, I contacted HGS twice and I got one
snotty reply and no reply to my 2nd email.

For some reason QP3 does not work properly on my computer. I requested a new
disc from QP, but my experience has been that unless you reach a live human,
the probability of a correct response is close to zero.

QP3 also need some kind of help system.

Because QP uses DLL's stored in the Windows system directory it's very
difficult (nearly impossible) to have both versions of QP installed and
switch back and forth between them. You'd have to swap a bunch of files
as well as the whole QP registry tree. It's really not very doable.

Matthew, thank you for the info. What about doing what it takes with HGSI so
we don't have to uninstall QP2? I am assuming that the QP 3 upgrade does not
require that QP 2 be removed. There has been remarkably little information
about QP 3 posted on this list and I can find nothing on the QP website
support area regarding upgrades.

I do not use QP charting. The only uses I make of QP is for data to fee HGSI
and Advanced Get. Everything is currently working with QP2. I realize that
HGSI is semi-separate product, however my understanding is that HGSI is
requiring that we upgrade to QP3 no later than October 1. I think it is
incumbent on HGSI to assure HGSI customers that the transition is smooth.

I agree with Earl.

So far the transition is not going to be smooth and there isn't enough
information for non-programmers to use QP3.

As I mentioned before, I would like to stay with QP, but QP and HGSI seem to

Hi Earl,

There is no reason you cannot stay with QP2. Our announcement only
recommended the change, it did not require it. The announcement explains
why we made the recommendation. It really is up to you to determine if you
want to switch or not. Hope this helps to clarify.
www.highgrowthstock.com/LearningCenter/ProdDocs/TechNotes/qp2-qp3.htm

Hello Lionel,

This recommendation does not apply to you, it only applies to HGS software
customers and only if they choose to follow the recommendation for the
reasons we provided. The announcement was only posted on the HGS board and
sent to HGS customers. It was not posted on the QP board or sent directly
to any non-HGS customers.

If more information is needed about the future of QP2 and QP3 these will
have to come from Gary.

Regards,
George

Hello -

I'm resending this, as the first one is not showing up.

HGS has been shipping with QP3 for several months now, and as far as
I know, they have not encountered any significant issues.

The programs work the same as in QP2. most people can install QP3 on
top of QP2, and keep doing everything the same as they have been
doing. There are no significant issues.

There will be no further enhancements to QP2.

Best regards

I always do a backup, so overwriting is not an issue for me. In fact, I
would expect it to do a "friendly" upgrade by removing unneeded files (old
DLL's, old database, etc) and retaining user settings. Does it do this?
Also, I do not know where the export settings are stored. When upgrading QP3
over QP2, will the QP2 export parameters be preserved?

Hi -
When upgrading QP3 over QP2, will the QP2 export parameters be
preserved?

Yes

Gary
I always do a backup, so overwriting is not an issue for me. In fact, I
would expect it to do a "friendly" upgrade by removing unneeded files (old
DLL's, old database, etc) and retaining user settings. Does it do this?
Also, I do not know where the export settings are stored. When
upgrading QP3
over QP2, will the QP2 export parameters be preserved?

QP3 will write over your QP2 installation.
If you want to test it first, you need to do it on a separate
computer, QP2 and QP3 can not both be installed on the same machine.

Matthew, thank you for the info. What about doing what it takes

information

I do not use QP charting. The only uses I make of QP is for data

realize that

HGSI is semi-separate product, however my understanding is that
HGSI is

it is

incumbent on HGSI to assure HGSI customers that the transition is
smooth.

1 - You can only hvae qp2 or qp3 on a computer, there is no way to
switch between them

2 - All the settings are stored in the registry

current user - software - quotes plus - ascii

You can export that key to save the ascii settings.

Unless I am completely wrong, QP3 has been around for about 2 years. I
installed mine (over QP2, I think) over one year ago, I think.

I don't do many scans, but I have never had any problem with QP3. My
primary use of QP is to convert files to Metastock format, and SPP/QP
does that just fine.

There is no help system

Tradescript looks interesting but there is no information on how to use it.

How do I write a scan in QP3?

There is a long list, but mostly its that there is no help system, or users
manual and Gary has no plans to produce it.

Lionel you say there is no help system. But there is. When you run
"Display Chart" click on "Help" in the Menu bar. You will get a choice
of 3 items. Content, Search and Index.

QP3 has a good tutorial on writing scans. When you run "Display Charts"
Click on "Help and "Content" Then in the list on the left side of the
"Quotes Plus Help" window double click on "Scan Database Program" You
will a list of 9 items. One of them is "Writing Scans a Tutorial".

After you start the "Scan Database" program from the "Quotes Plus
Release 3" menu I suggest the first thing you should do is click on
"help" and "Content" to display the "Quotes Plus help" Window". If the
first thing you try to do is start writing a scan you will find you can
not access the "Quotes Plus Scan Base" "Help" module.
